Just ahead of their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the NHL had made a massive announcement regarding the Colorado Avalanche, and they have a chance to clinch their playoff spot tonight.
Leading up to the game, it was unclear if the matchup between the Colorado Avalanche and the Columbus Blue Jackets was even going to take place tonight.
An Avalanche reporter revealed there was a possibility that the game was going to get canceled after the Avalanche were not able to board their plane due to a severe storm.
Due to severe storms in the Midwest late Wed/early Thu, #GoAvsGo did not make it out of Chicago following their 3-2 SO win.
They're still there as of 9:30 am ET, hoping to fly out later this morning.
As of now, tonight's game (7:30 pm) vs #CBJ is still on as scheduled.

Since then it has been revealed that the game will take place tonight as multiple sources confirmed the Avalanche did make it to Columbus.
Massive Announcement From The NHL
The Colorado Avalanche have a chance to clinch their playoff berth for the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
They will clinch a playoff spot if they beat the Blue Jackets in any fashion. If not and they get one point against the Blue Jackets, they will have to rely on the Ducks beating the Flames in any fashion to clinch a playoff spot.

The @TBLightning can take another crack at clinching a berth in the 2025 #StanleyCup Playoffs tonight, while the @Avalanche can lock in an eighth consecutive postseason appearance.
The Avalanche will clinch a playoff berth:
If they defeat the Blue Jackets in any fashion
OR
If they get one point vs. the Blue Jackets AND the Flames lose to the Ducks in any fashion
OR
If the Flames lose to the Ducks in regulation
