Avalanche reportedly still interested in reuniting with former Avalanche Cup champion

The Colorado Avalanche are reportedly maintaining their interest in reuniting with former Stanley Cup champion Nazem Kadri, signaling that the team may be looking to bring the talented forward back into the fold and bolster their roster with his experience and skill.
One player who has been at the center of numerous trade rumors across the NHL this summer is the Calgary Flames star centerman.
Avalanche reportedly still interested in bringing back Nazem Kadri.
Matt Levine from The Wrightway Sports Network writes that Kadri is coming off another impressive season with the Flames, marking his fourth consecutive year with at least 56 points.
In 82 regular-season games last year, he tallied 25 goals and 32 assists. As a long-standing centerpiece for Calgary, the ongoing trade rumors surrounding him have been somewhat surprising.
However, the Flames are in need of direction after missing the playoffs for a third consecutive season, and trading Kadri could provide that.
Moving him could bring in valuable future assets, and several teams have already expressed interest in acquiring his services.
"As the Flames look around the league for a potential trade of Kadri, the Colorado Avalanche could make sense as a landing spot. Colorado is looking to get back to Stanley Cup contention, and Kadri could help this idea drastically." -Levine
Having spent many years with the Avalanche, Kadri knows the team well. His return could boost Colorado's push in the Western Conference, offering him a chance to play for a contender once more in the Mile High City.
"Calgary has set a very high asking price for the veteran, and Colorado would need to get creative to make things work out. But this could be a true game-changer for this Avalanche team since Kadri has been extremely effective over the last few seasons." -Levine
If the reunion happens, it could be a win-win, giving the Avalanche veteran leadership and skill while giving Kadri a shot at another Stanley Cup run.
