Brad Marchand made his debut with the Florida Panthers, and now there's speculation where he could land next, and will it be the Colorado Avalanche?
Colorado could be a great landing spot for Marchand, who is on a hunt for his next Stanley Cup, after a 13-year drought with the Boston Bruins.
This season, Marchand would attempt to negotiate a deal with the Bruins, and instead of signing him, Don Sweeney foolishly traded him to the Florida Panthers.
At the end of the season, Marchand will be a UFA, and we can't help but ponder where he could land next season.
You have to think with the kind of skill Colorado has added recently, GM Chris McFarland is keeping his eye on Brad Marchand's next moves.
If Marchand and the Panthers find themselves winning another Cup, Marchand could leverage that into a new contract with the
Avalanche, and reunite with
Nathan MacKinnon.
Marchand would add grit and playoff experience in the lineup, and a scoring touch.
They'd get significantly meaner than they already are, considering their current lineup has former teammate
Charlie Coyle on the third line, and
Ross Colton on the second.
Marchand has shown he's humble enough in the past to take a team-friendly option and was denied his latest ask by Don Sweeney.
With the salary cap rising this year, there's hope the Avalanche could have enough space to sign him. At the moment, they only have $61,500.
Marchand's $6.125 million AAV deal expires at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
He's scored 47 points (21 goals, 26 assists) in 61 games with the Bruins and Panthers this year.
