Massive news surfaces for the Colorado Avalanche following their dominant victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Leading up to tonight's game between the Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, there was doubt that the game would even take place.
As one reporter revealed that the Avalanche were stuck in Chicago due to a severe storm.
Due to severe storms in the Midwest late Wed/early Thu, #GoAvsGo did not make it out of Chicago following their 3-2 SO win.
They're still there as of 9:30 am ET, hoping to fly out later this morning.
As of now, tonight's game (7:30 pm) vs #CBJ is still on as scheduled.

Thankfully the team arrived to Columbus, and the Avalanche were prepared to go as they managed to take a dominant 7-3 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Along with a very successful season despite all struggles they faced with injuries, the team still managed to pull through and tally an impressive 47-26-4 record for a total of 98 points. Which ultimately led them to clinching their spot in this year's playoffs.

Earlier on Thursday morning, reports surfaced showing what the Avalanche needed to do to clinch their spot in the playoffs with tonight's game.
The scenarios stated that if the Avalanche could pull off a victory in any fashion, but if they only took one point form tonight's game they would have needed to rely on the Ducks beating the Flames in any fashion.
The @TBLightning can take another crack at clinching a berth in the 2025 #StanleyCup Playoffs tonight, while the @Avalanche can lock in an eighth consecutive postseason appearance.
The Avalanche will clinch a playoff berth:
If they defeat the Blue Jackets in any fashion
OR
If they get one point vs. the Blue Jackets AND the Flames lose to the Ducks in any fashion
OR
If the Flames lose to the Ducks in regulation
The Avalanche will clinch a playoff berth:

Thankfully they didn't need that, as they pulled through a took a 7-3 victory clinching their spot in the playoffs all on their own.
