The Calgary Flames have reportedly been caught using a questionable strategy in an attempt to increase the trade value of former Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup champion and star forward Nazem Kadri amid trade rumours.

As rumours continue to swirl around the veteran forward, this revelation sheds light on the team's behind-the-scenes efforts to make a potential deal more appealing to interested teams.

Flames caught trying to inflate Avalanche hero's trade value.

Jack Sutherland from House Of Hockey writes that NHL analyst Jimmy Murphy has revealed that the Flames may be attempting to drive up the return value in a potential trade involving Kadri.
First off, Kadri is reportedly ready to waive his no-trade clause, with two Canadian teams, the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, expressing interest.
However, according to analyst Jimmy Murphy, the Canadiens don't share the same level of interest, and the Flames might simply be trying to drive up the potential return they could get in a trade.
"With all due respect to Kypper, I'm told the interest is not mutual with the Habs. This sounds like the Flames trying to create the marketplace." -Murphy
At a recent charity golf tournament, Kadri acknowledged that he's fully aware of the trade rumours involving him but views it as just part of the life of a professional athlete
"Unless I live in a box, I think I would hear it. I've certainly heard lots of speculation, for sure. It's happened quite often over the last couple of months, so it's a little bit bizarre just scrolling around and seeing your face pop up and name pop up. Obviously, the rumour mill is pretty strong, especially around these parts. And a lot of the times, the rumours can catch some fire, and the fire turns into bigger fires. It is what it is." -Kadri

Kadri finished this season with 67 points (35 goals, 32 assists) in his third year with the Flames.
