Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup champion Nazem Kadri has finally opened up about the multiple trade rumours he's been mentioned in over the course of this summer, especially in reports predicting his move back to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kadri is currently under contract with the Calgary Flames until 2029, on a deal worth $49 million with an AAV of $7 million.

Avalanche Cup hero drops massive bombshell.

Ankit Kumar from Sportskeeda.com writes that the 34-year-old was recently asked about the Maple Leafs trade rumours on the Knight Shift podcast...
"It's (the rumors) happened quite often over the last couple months. It's a little bit bizarre scrolling around and seeing your face pop up and your name pop up." -Kadri

Kadri also added that during the offseason, people simply want something to talk about since there isn't much big news going around. That said, Kadri isn't overly shocked about the trade rumours.
"Obviously, the rumour mill is pretty strong, especially around these parts. A lot of the times, the rumours can catch some fire and the fire turns into bigger fires." -Kadri
Kadri has played ten seasons in Toronto from 2009-2019, with his best campaign coming in 2016-17 when he registered 61 points. Many Leafs fans were disappointed to see Kadri leave Toronto, but after trading away Mitch Marner, fans aren't opposed with a possible reunion with the Flames all-star.
Even with all this talk, NHL insider David Pagnotta believes a trade involving Kadri is unlikely...
"I think they would entertain it. (But) I don't see a fit that makes sense for both sides." -Pagnotta

NHL analyst Jeff Marek also shared his take on the "Sekeres & Price" show, expressing that Flames GM Craig Conroy is not actively trying to move Kadri but is willing to hear out offers from teams.
"I would imagine for the right price for Nazem Kadri - Conroy would certainly listen. I would imagine that if presented the right opportunity, Kadri would probably go. But I don't think he wants to go to a non-contender. If he goes at all." -Marek

For now, Kadri has full control over his future with a no-movement clause linked to his current contract.
