The NHL offseason is in full swing, with trade rumours circulating across the league.
Following the Vegas Golden Knights' blockbuster acquisition of Mitch Marner in a sign-and-trade deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs, several other potential moves are still on the table, yet again, involving the Golden Knights.
Avalanche rivals closing in on a blockbuster trade to land NHL top defenseman.
Devavrat Kulkarni from The Playoffs writes that according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson has become a prominent name in trade discussions. Teams reportedly interested in acquiring him include the Ottawa Senators, Los Angeles Kings, Vegas Golden Knights, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Athletic's Pierre Lebrun is reporting that Rasmus Andersson has interest in signing a long term extension with the Vegas Golden Knights.
However, a trade involving Andersson to any of these teams appears unlikely at this point at this point. For starters, the Senators are on his no-trade list, effectively taking them out of the running. As for the Golden Knights, their recent acquisition of Marner has left them tight against the cap, making a deal for Andersson highly improbable.
"The Kings could still be in play for Andersson, but they have already signed Brian Dumoulin and Cody Ceci, making it highly unlikely that they will go after the Flames defender as well. That leaves the Blue Jackets, who have the cap space to easily afford Andersson, but they have also re-signed defenders Ivan Provorov and Dante Fabbro." -Kulkarni
Trade rumours are sure to keep swirling as teams across the NHL look to reshape their rosters, whether they're rebuilding for the future or adding key pieces to contend now. No matter the direction, it'll be fascinating to watch, especially with the potential for a surprise deal to come out of nowhere.
