The Colorado Avalanche are definitely a favourite heading into the playoffs this year, but a reporter revealed what they are going to have to address if they want to have success this year.

Entering the playoffs this year, the Colorado Avalanche have as good a chance as any team to hoist Lord Stanley one again. Nathan MacKinnon is doing MacKinnon things once again and may win his second straight MVP award this year.
Along with that, Cale Makar made NHL history after scoring 30 goals this season, something that has not been don since 2008-09 when Mike Green ended up doing it.
Along with this, the Avalanche's trade deadline acquisitions are starting to find their groove with the team, and it couldn't come at a better time as there are only 4 games remaining in the regular season.
But a reporter believes that the Avalanche's new goaltender tandem of Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood will be a problem in the playoffs, and make them fall short of a Stanley Cup.

Reporter Believes Goaltending Is Going To Be An Issue For The Avalanche

Early on in the season Colorado Avalanche GM Chris MacFarland ended up trading both Georgiev and Annunen, and in return picked up both Wedgewood, and Blackwood giving them an immediate boost in net.
After acquiring Blackwood, the Avalanche signed him to a five-year contract extension worth $5.25 million, hinting that he is going to be the most used goaltender for the Avalanche, and he has been.
But Christopher Hennessy of ClutchPoints believes that because Blackwood has not been a cup-winning before, he won't be again this year. He backs this up by stating that Blackwood had consecutive seasons with a save percentage below a .900, but who's to say that this year can't be his year?
"He has to be a Cup-winning goalie for the Avalanche. But throughout his career, he has not been. Before this season, he had four consecutive seasons with a save percentage below .900. This is the best season of his career, a .915 save percentage and 2.46 goals-against average, and that must continue.

Blackwood is now playing on a really good Colorado Avalanche, where he was playing for San Jose that past two years, and the Devils before that.
Goaltenders definitely benefit from playing on better teams, and Blackwood is doing exactly that posting new career highs in goals against average with a 2.23, and is set to have a new career high in wins as well as he sits at 22 right now, and his highest was 22 before.
