Fans can't stop talking after Dallas Stars superstar Mikko Rantanen was spotted in a secret late-night meet-up with several of his former Colorado Avalanche teammates.

While the Rantanen debacle cast a shadow over the Avalanche's 2024-25 season, fans finally have a reason to smile following his heartbreaking trade.

Mikko Rantanen spotted in unexpected reunion with former Avalanche teammates.

Trent Finnegan from Denver Sports writes that from being part of the initial trade well before the deadline to eventually signing with division rival Dallas Stars on a deal reportedly comparable to Colorado's offer.
"To add more fuel to the fire, Rantanen absolutely torched Colorado in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, highlighted by a third period hat trick in Game 7 to send his old friends home as he and a sea of green celebrated together in the American Airlines Center. Avalanche fans were crushed, and so were the players as they came up well short of winning a Stanley Cup once again." -Finnegan

Three months later, off-ice relationships appear to be intact, despite Rantanen's actions back in May. Veteran defenseman and fan favourite Erik Johnson shared videos on his Instagram story of his attempting to spook teammates with a live lobster, a stunt that perfectly matches Condon's playful personality.
"All the Avalanche players, present and past, are gathering at what is rumored to be Nathan MacKinnon's wedding. There is no confirmation on what exactly it is, as MacKinnon is very secretive about that kind of stuff." -Finnegan

Another takeaway from the video is that Logan O'Connor appears to be moving well just two months after hip surgery. While the Avalanche haven't shared an official update, he was initially expected to be sidelined for 5-6 months, which would likely have him back around the holiday season.
A least everyone seems to be getting along, even after Chris MacFarland and the rest of the front office moved the Finnish winger out of town.
