A new insider report has revealed that Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon is reportedly working on a bold and ambitious plan to bring Sidney Crosby to Denver for the upcoming NHL season.

Crosby's name has already been linked to the Avalanche throughout the entire offseason.

Insider reveals Nathan MacKinnon's plan to convince Sidney Crosby to join the Avalanche.

Matt Levine from TWSN writes that the Penguins have found themselves in a delicate balancing act this offseason, caught between the need to commit to a full-scale rebuild and the pressure from core veterans to keep competing for championships.
This growing uncertainty has fuelled a wave of trade speculation, with some league insiders believing a Crosby deal isn't entirely out of the question. While the Penguins would ideally like to keep their frustration cornerstone in black and gold, the reality is that full youth movement could make it increasingly difficult to balance his presence with the organization's long-term goals.
"One team that would make a lot of sense as a landing spot for the Penguins legend could be the Colorado Avalanche. While it remains to be seen if the Penguins will move Crosby, the Avalanche could offer him a strong environment to finish his career." -Levine

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman recently connected the dots between Crosby and the Avalanche while discussing the upcoming Wold Championship. With Crosby suited up for Team Canada, the tournament could present a natural opportunity for him to have off-ice conversations with fellow NHL stars, including potential future teammates, about what a move to Colorado might look like.
Here's what Friedman believes MacKinnon's pitch would be to Crosby...
«Why don't you come to Colorado, play with me, and we rule the league from the Western Conference?» And when he isn't saying it, he's just going to be staring at Crosby, burning holes in his head." -Friedman

Crosby still has two years remaining on his current deal at $8.7 million per season, which could pose a significant hurdle for any interested team.
However, the Avalanche have a history of cap maneuvering and could explore creative options, whether through salary retention, multi-team trades, or roster reshuffling, to make a blockbuster deal between the two sides a reality.
