NHL announces shocking news concerning Avalanche star forward

Despite missing some time due to injury, Valeri Nichushkin remained a key impact player for the Colorado Avalanche during the 2024-25 season, tallying 34 goals (21 goals, 13 assists) in 43 regular-season games.
In seven playoff games this year, Nichushkin registered 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist).
NHL releases shocking news concerning Avalanche forward.
Coby Maeir from NHL.com writes that Nichushkin's 21 goals this season marked the first time in his career he's posted back-to-back 20-goal campaigns. He's hit the 20-goal milestone in three of the past four seasons, and his average of 0.43 goals per game during that stretch ranks sixth among right wings with at least 200 games played.
"Nichushkin's rare combination of size, speed and skill make him one of the league's most unique players. Of the 43 games Nichushkin played in the regular season, he registered at least one point in 25 of them. He posted six multi-point games, including a pair of multi-goal contests, highlighted by a hat trick in a four-point night against the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 8th." -Maier

Among all players who played at least 10 games during the 2024-25 regular season, Nichushkin was one of just three to register at least one shot on goal in every game, joining Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zch Werenski and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews in that exclusive group.
Nichushkin heads into the 2025-26 season with five years left on his current contract. He's also approaching a pair of career milestones, just 45 gams shy of 500 and 29 assists away from reaching 200.
