Justus Annunen and a 2025 sixth-round pick head to Nashville. Wedgewood wasted no time making his presence felt in Colorado.
NHL announces shocking news concerning Avs goalie.
Coby Maeir from NHL.com writes that in his Avalanche debut, Wedgewood turned aside all 22 shots he faced in a relief effort, helping Colorado rally from a 4-0 deficit to pull off a 5-4 comeback win over the Buffalo Sabres on December 3rd.
During the 2024-25 season, Wedgewood appeared in 24 games between the Predators and Avalanche, starting 22 of them. He recorded a 14-6-2 record, with a .908 save percentage and a 2.32 GAA.
"In 19 games with the Avs, he made 18 starts, posting a 13-4-1 record with a .917 save percentage and a 1.99 goals-against average. He's one of three goaltenders in franchise history with at least 15 starts to have a sub-2.00 goals-against average and a winning percentage of .750 or better, joining
Philipp Grubauer (2020-21) and Jocelyn Thibault (1994-95). Additionally, Wedgewood tied his career-high in shutouts with two, both coming while playing for the Avs." -Maier
Wedgewood earned his first shutout of the season on December 8th against the New Jersey Devils, a former team of his, and stopped all 25 shots in a 4-0 win. He notched his second shutout on March 10th versus the Chicago Blackhawks, making 20 saves, including several outstanding stops, in a 3-0 victory.
Including his two shutouts, Wedgewood recorded a save percentage of .920 or higher in 8 of his 24 games with Colorado.
As he heads into the 2025-26 season, Wedgewood has one year left on his contract and sits 46 games shy of 200 career appearances, 38 wins away from 100, and just 2 shutouts short of reaching 10.
