Gabriel Landeskog speaks out on knee injury that has kept him sidelined for nearly three-years
Over the last two days Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog has been making a very significant stride at returning to the National Hockey League.
Since Landeskog joined the Colorado Eagles on a conditioning stint, things have looked really promising for him to return to the Colorado Avalanche lineup just before playoffs start, even after everyone doubted he would ever play another NHL game.
However, Landeskog is proving everyone wrong, especially on Saturday night as he took a massive stride in the right direction and ended up playing his second consecutive game, in back-to-back days.
While doing so, Landeskog managed to tally his first professional goal in just nearly three-years or 1,027 days. Making his return to the Avalanche lineup inevitable.
Truly an amazing night for Landeskog himself and all the fans who are rooting for him.
Gabriel Landeskog speaks out on his knee injury after playing two games with the Eagles
Following Saturday nights game, Landeskog was faced with the media and was asked how his knee was feeling after playing two games.
Definitely a fair question considering the 32-year old forward has been sidelined for nearly three-years as he battled what seemed to be a never ending knee injury.
Something which lead him to a cartilage transplant surgery in May of 2023. Along with having a total of four surgeries on the same knee since 2020.
However, here's what he had to say regarding how he's been feeling after playing two games:
"Honestly, it's been really good. Obviously I've been skating for a long time now and I've been working on all the nuances of skating.
It's one thing to be on the ice and skate and do certain drills, but it's another one to do it in a game, game speed, and game intensity. I put the work in.
I know I've put my time in and now this weekend I've gotten a chance to just not put it to the test, but take the next step and just trust my training, trust where my knee's at, and it's been feeling really good."
Truly an amazing update from the Captain, hopefully this means he will join the Colorado Avalanche to take on the
Mikko Rantanen and the Dallas Stars in the first round of playoffs.
