The Dallas Stars failed to go up 2-1 in their series against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of the NHL Western Conference Final on Sunday.

Stars forward Mikko Rantanen had high praise for Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner following Edmonton's dominant 6-1 win over Dallas in Game 3.

Former Colorado Avalanche star Mikko Rantanen reveals why the Dallas Stars have lost their last two playoff games against Edmonton.

Josh Wegman from The Score writes that despite outshooting the Oilers 34-24 and controlling nearly 70% of the expected goals at five-on-five, the Stars couldn't solve Skinner. Dallas dominated the second period with 21 shots and 10 high-danger chances, but Skinner held firm, surrendering only one goal in the entire game.
"I think Skinner was the difference-maker tonight. He was really good. He made key saves even when it was 3-1. (Tyler Seguin) had a Grade A in the slot, he makes the save, and 10 seconds later it's 4-1. He was the MVP of the match, I would say." -Rantanen

Skinner's postseason has been a tale of two extremes. When he's off, his struggles have been glaring, but when he's locked in, he' looked almost impossible to beat.
"Five-on-five we've got to find a way to finish our chances a little bit more. Obviously Skinner's making good saves, but we've got to make life harder for him." -Rantanen

Wegman also writes that Skinner has started eight games this postseason, splitting them evenly with a 4-4 record. The contrast in his performances is striking, he's recorded a rough .816 save percentage in his four losses, but an incredible .991 save percentage in his four wins.
That's high praise from Mikko Rantanen to Stuart Skinner!
Edmonton leads the best-of-seven series 2-1 with Game 4 set for Tuesday night.
