On Wednesday, the Broncos cornerback gave a shoutout to the Avalanche blueliner in a video shared on social media, congratulating him on winning the Norris Trophy for the second time in his incredible career.

Surtain II earned the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year title, making him just the second player in Broncos history to claim the award.

Meanwhile, Makar was unexpectedly presented with his second Norris Trophy during a golf outing with friends and family. His first win came back in the 2021-22 season.

The Avalanche joined in on the celebration, honouring their teammate's achievement with heartfelt video messages recognizing his remarkable accomplishment.

The 26-year-old Calgary native became only the ninth defenseman in NHL history to notch 30 goals in a single season. He led all defenseman in goals with 30, assists with 62, and points with 92, marking his second straight campaign with 90 or more points.

Makar secured a dominant 176 first-place votes, far outpacing Werenski, who received 13, and Hughes, who got just two. Morrissey of Winnipeg and Victor Hedman of Tampa Bay completed the top five in voting.
