Colorado Eagles' final playoff game goes from bad to worse after fan allegedly assaults broadcaster on air

Abbotsford Canucks announcer Brandon Astle was reportedly hit by a chair allegedly thrown by a Eagles fan during Monday's series-clinching playoff game at Blue Arena in Colorado.

Just over a minute before the end of the period, shortly after Phil Di Giuseppe gave Abbotsford a 2-0 lead, a fan reportedly entered Brandon Astle's broadcast booth. The incident was audible on live feed, with a loud bang followed by Astle remarking that the fan was heckling him during the broadcast.

The fan, identified only by his X handle on social media, has disputed Astle's account in multiple social media posts. He denied ever throwing a chair, claiming the loud noise heard in the clip was a door slamming. The fan also denied claims that he was escorted out of the arena.

Abbotsford had the last laugh and dominated the Eagles on route to a 5-0 victory, securing their first-ever trip to the Western Conference Final. They'll now face off against the Texas Stars in a best-of-seven series to determine who advances to the Calder Cup Final.
