The Colorado Avalanche are currently gearing up to head on a three-game road trip that begins tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks, and have announced today a shocking roster transaction involving a goaltender.
The Avalanche are going to see some pretty easy opponents on this three-game road trip as they will be taking on the Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, and then the St. Louis Blues.
It was just revealed that the organization has made a roster transaction involving a goaltender, and it comes as a surprise.
Chris MacFarland made the surprising announcement today that the Colorado Avalanche had recalled goaltender Kevin Mandolese from their American Hockey League affiliate the Colorado Eagles.

Avalanche Goaltender Dealing With An Injury?
Since the announcement was made that Mandolese was recalled from the Colorado Eagles, there has been some speculation in the fan base that one of Blackwood, or Wedgewood could be dealing with an injury.
It could mean one of two things, either one of Wedgewood, or Blackwood are dealing with an injury, or with the Avalanche set to face off against some easy opponents they want Mandolese to get some action to see what he can do.
Mandolese was originally drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the 6th round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft witht he 157th overall pick, and has appeared in 3 NHL games.
All three games came with the Ottawa Senators back in the 2022-23 season where he had a 1-2-0 record with a 3.30 GAA, and a .916 SV%.
Since then he has yet to see NHL action but it looks like the Avalanche are going to give him a shot.
