Avalanche stir up controversy after stunning off-ice revelation

It's fairly common to see NHL teams show support for their city's NFL franchise, but when the Colorado Avalanche attended Thursday Night Football to watch the Los Angeles Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers, the entire squad turned heads by suiting up in Rams jerseys.
This is where the controversy lies, as the Avalanche's local NFL team would be the Denver Broncos, where often the local city's sports teams support each other, but it clearly wasn't the case here.

Jesse Sarles of CBS News, reported on the Avalanche's visit to SoFi stadium to watch the Rams and 49ers on Thursday night.
A large group of Colorado Avalanche players attended the Thursday Night Football game in the Los Angeles area between the Rams and the 49ers. That wasn't particularly unusual, but the Colorado players posing for photos in football jerseys of a football team that isn't the Denver Broncos certainly is." -Sarles
While the reason behind it is fairly obvious, both the Avalanche and Rams share the same owner in Stan Kroenke, that didn't stop fans from weighing in, with plenty voicing their displeasure over the show of support.

This is disrespectful to our Colorado sports culture. They should be wearing a Broncos jersey no matter what football game they are at. come on boys.

While it's understandable why this happened, the gesture still left a sour taste for some fans, particularly those in Denver who support all of the city's local teams. In the end, though, it's just a minor distraction with the Avalanche set to begin their regular season in about a week.
