As the NHL season's opening night draws near, the Colorado Avalanche are finalizing their roster, with their most recent moves serving as clear evidence of the push.
The Avalanche sent a group of players down to the AHL through waivers, and these moves tend to
carry controversy.
Colorado Avalanche get one step closer to finalizing their roster for the start of the regular season.
Nestor Quixtan of Mile High Sticking reported on the most recent roster moves the Avalanche made.
There was also another batch of players also sent down, but these players didn't have to clear waivers.
"Additionally,
Chase Bradley,
Alex Gagne,
Cooper Gay, and Kyle Keyser were sent down to the Eagles. These players did not need to clear waivers. Interestingly, offseason trade addition
Ronnie Attard was also sent to the Eagles." -Quixtan
The Avalanche currently have 29 players on their roster and will need to trim it down to 23 before opening night.
"As such, more cuts could come in the following days. The Avalanche will likely roll with seven defensemen, 14 forwards, and two goalies. However, that could change depending on injuries." -Quixtan
The Avalanche are poised to be among the NHL's elite, if not the very best. But every detail counts, and for the Avalanche, that means ensuring the right players fill the right roles, particularly at the bottom of the lineup.
