In a surprising move, Colorado Avalanche divisional rival Utah Mammoth have officially waived award-winning goalie Connor Ingram, leaving fans and analysts wondering about the team's plans moving forward.

Ingram was expected to suit up for the Mammoth in the 2025-26 season following his stint in the NHL's Player Assistance Program, but a new report indicates the team is preparing to move on from him instead.

Mammoth officially cut ties with star goaltender Connor Ingram.

Spencer Lazary from The Hockey News writes that Ingram was recently cleared to return to the NHL by the NHLPA. However, ahead of the Mammoth's training camp, the team announced that he would not be participating.
"The plan all along was to help him find a new home in the NHL, whether that came through a trade or waivers. Now, we know he has been placed on waivers and could have a new team within 24 hours. The other 31 NHL clubs have until tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. EST to put in a claim." -Lazary

Mammoth general manager Bill Armstrong addressed the situation when the team announced Ingram would not be participating in training camp, saying...
"We'll at some point in time put him through waivers, and through that process, he will either get a chance to play for another NHL team, or he will go to an [American Hockey League] team. But at the end of the day, he will be playing, and that's what we're so excited for." -Armstrong

Ingram won the 2023-24 Masterton Trophy for perseverance and dedication and has now entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program twice in his career.
This is positive news for Ingram, who will either join a new NHL team or report to the AHL's Tuscon Roadrunner.
