The Colorado Avalanche's fight for positioning in the Central Division has taken an unexpected turn following stunning goalie news concerning divisional rival Utah Mammoth's Connor Ingram.

Utah will be boosted by the return of a familiar name, as Ingram is set to rejoin the team following his stint in the NHL's Player Assistance Program.

Utah expected to get starting goalie Connor Ingram back for next season.

Nick Horwat from Breakaway On Si writes that after spending more than five months away from the game, Ingram has been officially cleared by the NHLPA and the NHL's Player Assistance Program. The 28-year-old netminder is not eligible to rejoin the Mammoth just in the time for training camp as the 2025-26 season approaches.
"Ingram entered the program in early March, putting an early end to his 2024-25 season with the Mammoth. Following his entering of the program, Ingram released a statement saying he needed to put his health first following the death of his mother from breast cancer earlier in the season." -Horwat
Ingram explained in his statement that his time away was focused on addressing mental health, while also pointing out that the NHL's Player Assistance Program extends beyond substance abuse resources.
"Injuries also hampered Ingram's 2024-25 season, holding him to just 22 games. In that time, Ingram went 9-8-4 with a .882 save percentage and 3.27 goals against average." -Horwat

Back when the franchise was still known as the Utah Hockey Club following it's relocation from Arizona, Ingram emerged as the team's go-to option in net.
He opened the season with a 6-2-3 record across his first 11 starts, posting an .880 save percentage during that stretch.
As the upcoming NHL season nears, the Mammoth will have three goaltenders competing for ice time. Ingram will vie for a spot alongside 29-year-old Karel Vejmelka and newcomer Vitek Vanecek.
