The Colorado Avalanche have released several important updates and announcements just days before training camp is set to officially begin, giving fans and media a closer look at what to expect for the upcoming season.

With the 2025-26 Avalanche season fast approaching, the team is gearing up for training camp, set to begin Thursday at the Family Sports Center.

Avalanche release rosters for their upcoming training camp.

Jackie Kay from Mile High Sticking writes that the organization kindly released their training camp roster a few days early, giving fans a first look at the group set to hit the ice.
The roster is a tidy group of 54 players, including 31 forwards, 17 defenseman, and six goaltenders. What remains unclear, however, is which players will miss on-ice camp due to injuries.
"We know for sure that Logan O'Connor, Jacob MacDonald and Taylor Makar are still recovering from surgery. Linus Funck was injured during the rookie showcase and is unlikely to be available, too. We have seen some indications that Samuel Girard and Mackenzie Blackwood might be limited but to what extent is unknown. Are there any other injury surprises yet to be revealed which might cut down the group even further?" -Kay

Another notable point from the list is the absence of any Professional Tryout additions, which is surprising given the number of injuries and the lack of NHL-ready depth if needed. It raises the question: will internal options finally step up this season, or is GM Chris MacFarland more likely to rely on the waiver wire and trades when cuts loom?
Time will tell, but for now, these 54 players and the group the Avalanche will be working with.
