Tragic News Strikes The Hockey Community After The Passing Of A 21-Year-Old Hockey Player

On April 5th, the hockey community was hit with some devastating news as it was revealed that 21-year-old Skyler Smith has passed away.

After learning about the news, the Chebucto Minor Hockey Association issued a statement out of Halifax, Nova Scotia on the passing.

Smith played for the Chebucto Atlantics and it's clear that this news has hit them hard. Skyler also shared a unique bond with his father Lee, and brother Colby over hockey.

If Smith was not playing hockey, he was still at the rink cheering on his siblings in Colby, Landen, and Stettson who also all played hockey.

Going over his obituary, it described Skyler as a ray of sunshine who had an infectious laugh, and also loved life and everything it had to offer. Skyler was always chasing a new adventure, super confident, hardworking and he had a dependable attitude.

Once the news broke of his passing, his friends took the time to share their thoughts on Skyler:

It's very unfortunate that he was taken way too young, but his family is finding peace knowing that he was taken from us doing something he loved to do.
