Colorado Avalanche's superstar Nathan MacKinnon is taking his leadership role very serious leading into the playoffs, and just set a high standard in the Avalanche's locker room.

The Colorado Avalanche basically have third place locked up in the Central Division and are more then likely going to be facing off against the Dallas Stars in the first round of the playoffs.
Injuries have become a problem for the Avalanche over the past couple of games, and because of that they had no choice but to recall three players from the Colorado Eagles ahead of their final two regular season games.
Six players will not be playing another regular season game for the Colorado Avalanche. All of them are due to injuries besides Cale Makar, as Bednar revealed he'd like to rest him for a couple of games.
Bednar tells @ConorMcGahey they'll look to see if they can give Makar and Toews a night or two off this weekend.

Also said he's hopeful Lindgren will be ready for Game 1 of the playoffs.
The Avalanche are also going to be without Nathan MacKinnon, Ross Colton, Jonathan Drouin, Ryan Lindgren, and Josh Manson. It's unclear if everyone is going to be ready to go for game 1 of the playoffs, but they are all listed as day-to-day.

Nathan MacKinnon Sets A High Standard In The Avalanche Locker Room

With just two games remaining in the regular season, it was revealed that Nathan MacKinnon is not going to play another game this year.
With that, he was on pace to win his first Art Ross trophy, and potentially his second straight MVP award, but instead MacKinnon is putting the team first, and setting a high standard in the Avalanche locker room.
Instead of chasing after individual awards, MacKinnon is looking at the bigger picture and sitting out for the remainder of the year to make sure that he is healthy to try and win another Stanley Cup.
Nathan MacKinnon is deadlocked with Kucherov for the points lead, just four days away from potentially winning his first Art Ross and Nate chose to rest, putting the team before self.

Leadership personified.
Nothing but pure class, and leadership from MacKinnon, and he is definitely setting the standard high for the Avalanche.
