Frederik Andersen stopped 20 shots as the Carolina Hurricanes avoided elimination with a 3-0 over the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final on Monday at Amerant Bank Arena.

Andersen has struggled in Games 1 and 2, giving up nine goals on just 36 shots before being replaced by Pyotr Kochetkov in Game 3.

The Carolina Hurricanes earn their first Eastern Conference Final win since 2006.

Monday's tilt marked the end of a horrendous streak for the Hurricanes. It was Carolina's first victory in the Conference Final since June 1, 2006. That victory came in a game against the Buffalo Sabres, where current head coach Rob Brind'Amour scored the game-winning goal. Prior to Monday's win, the Hurricanes had dropped 15 straight games in the Eastern Conference Final.
The Hurricanes had been swept in their last three appearances at this stage; by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009, the Boston Bruins in 2019, and the Panthers most recently in 2023.
Logan Stankoven found the back of the net for the Hurricanes with a beautiful shot that beat Panthers' goalie Sergei Bobrovsky over the right shoulder.
The Panthers were once again without star forward Sam Reinhart, sidelined with a lower-body injury suffered in Game 2. They were also missing forward A.J. Greer and defenseman Niko Mikkola, both out due to undisclosed injuries.
Carolina did eventually take a 3-0 lead late in the third off two empty net goals by Sebastian Aho and captain Jordan Staal.
Game 5 of the best-of-seven series is set for Wednesday at Lenovo Center back in Carolina. Puck drop will go at 6:00pm MT.
