Alex Ovechkin Breaks Wayne Gretzky's All-Time Goals Scored Record Against the New York Islanders!

Today, we witnessed greatness in action, as Alex Ovechkin penned his name in the history books above Wayne Gretzky, breaking the all-time goals scored record with goal #895 today against the New York Islanders.
The New York Islanders from the start were easy prey for Alex Ovechkin, who has a deadly one-timer from his office on the power-play.
Not only that, but his skills lend well to crashing the net and imposing his will on the ice which has been his style of his game since he arrived in the NHL from Dynamo Moscow of the KHL.
Goal number 894 came in 1,486 games for Alex Ovechkin as he posted 893 and 894 the same night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Now, today against Ilya Sorokin and the Islanders he ended the Gr8 Chase at UBS Arena on Patrick Roy's home turf.
This has been an epic conclusion to the regular season for the Capitals, and Ovechkin, who was thought to be out of the chase after suffering an injury earlier in the year.
However, he's pushed through it and scored a whopping 42 goals and 69 points this season.
That, along with the fact that Spencer Carberry has turned the team into a well-oiled Stanley Cup-contending team, speaks highly of both Ovechkin and the team itself.
