The real reason the Colorado Avalanche ended up recalling Mandolese from the American Hockey League does not have to do with an Avalanche goaltender being injured.
Instead, Avalanche insider Meghan Angley revealed that the Avalanche just like to have carry three goalies, and that's the reason he was recalled, not because he was injured.
