A stunning new report has revealed who's really pulling the strings behind a potential trade involving former Colorado Avalanche star Nazem Kadri, shedding light on the key figure influencing his NHL future.
Recent report reveals who controls former Avalanche star's future.
Kevin Allen from Detroit Hockey Now writes that Kadri's no-movement clause gives him control over his future for the next 11 months. Starting next July, that protection changes to a 13-team no-trade list.
That's why there's speculation Kadri might choose to waive his no-movement clause now, while he still has full control over where he could be traded. To be fair, the Flames aren't eager to move him, as they believe they're still in the playoff hunt.
However, Kadri turns 35 in October and still has four years left on a deal carrying a $7 million AAV. Coming off a 35-goal season, his trade value is likely at its peak.
NHL insider Ryan Dixon had this to say in a recent report...
«By all accounts, Calgary - which missed the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs by barely a whisper - wants to be competitive again next year and Kadri would certainly help with that. On the other hand, if the Flames can acquire players in a younger demographic who have the potential to help for the next decade, you can see how moving Kadri might make sense for GM Craig Conroy.» -Dixon
The five potential destinations for Kadri are reportedly the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Kadri, who grew up a Canadiens fan, has also played for both Toronto and Colorado. His unique combination of skill and grit could be exactly what New Jersey needs, while the Hurricanes continue to establish themselves as a rising force in the league.
