A newly released report has revealed a stunning update involving Arturri Lehkonen, one of the Colorado Avalanche's cornerstone forwards. The unexpected development has sparked concern and speculation about what it could mean for the team heading into the upcoming season.

Lehkonen remains a consistent bright spot for the Avalanche, and the 2024-25 season was no exception.

New report reveals shocking update for Artturi Lehkonen.

Evan Liu from Hockey Mountain High writes that Lehkonen sat out the first month of the season while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. However, when he made his return on November 5 against the Seattle Kraken, he quickly showed he hadn't lost a step, playing as if he'd never been away.
"He recorded a goal and an assist in the game. It started a string of six points in six games. In 69 total games, he scored a career high of 27 goals and 18 assists for 45 total points. He also led the team in plus/minus at +36." -Liu
Also not mentioned was his first career shootout goal. Additionally, he scored his first career hat trick on December 27 against the then-Utah Hockey Club.
"Lehkonen scored five game-winning goals, the most of his career. He did all this while averaging over 20 minutes a night. In the playoffs, he tacked on three goals and an assist." -Liu

The 30-year-old Finnish forward had an outstanding season, especially after stepping up following Mikko Rantanen's trade to the Carolina Hurricanes. He regularly played in the top six alongside a diverse group of teammates and continued to deliver strong performances throughout the year.
Lehkonen reunited with Rantanen while representing Team Finland at the Four Nations Face-Off. Although Finland faced challenges with injuries and managed to win only one of their three games, Lehkonen contributed by recording an assist during the tournament.
"With lots of changes in the lineup, Lehkonen has been a steady and calm figure in the side. He only has two more years left on his current contract with a $4.5 million AAV and a 12-team modified no-trade clause." -Liu

With Gabriel Landeskog back and Martin Necas expected to remain for at least another season, Arturri Lehkonen aims to keep showcasing his playmaking skills, versatility, and boost his point totals. He's likely to continue contributing at a high level for at least two more years before facing a significant contract decision that will challenge the Avalanche's salary cap flexibility.
