Mikko Rantanen is one of several former Colorado Avalanche players still competing in the 2024-25 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Every team in the final four has at least one former Avalanche player on its roster. So, for fans who still cheer for the guys who once wore an Avs jersey, there's some comfort in knowing that no matter who lifts the Stanley Cup, a familiar face will be part of the celebration in June.
Recent report leaves Colorado Avalanche management scratching their heads throughout this year's playoffs.

Graham Tiedtke from Mile High Sticking writes that the Edmonton Oilers have just one former Avalanche player on their roster, and it happens to be one of the many goaltenders they've roated through over the years. His name is Calvin Pickard, and he's been a huge contributor to Edmonton's success this season.

"I already mentioned Rantanen becoming a Dallas Star, aka a rival of the Avalanche. However, the Stars don't just have one former Avalanche on their team. Dallas signed former Avalanche Matt Duchene to a one-year contract in July of 2023. He had 65 points (25 goals and 40 assists-65) in 80 regular-season games in 2023-24, and followed it up with 30 goals and 52 assists in 82 games. His shooting percentage of 19.7 percent was the second-best of his career to date." -Tiedtke

Tyson Jost, now a member of the Carolina Hurricanes, was selected 10th overall by the Avalanche in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He had a solid six-season stint with Colorado, appearing in 321 games and tallying 45 goals and 58 assists.
Defenceman Sean Walker is another player to add to that list who played only 18 games with the Avalanche. Walker is also a member of the Hurricanes who recently signed a five-year, $18 million deal in Carolina.
The Florida Panthers also have a few former Avalanche players. One of them is A.J. Greer. Drafted 39th overall by Colorado in 2015, Greer spentthree seasons with the team, appearing in 37 games and psting one goal and six assists during that stretch.
"Evan Rodrigues rounds out the entire list. Rodrigues was heavily rumoured to be of interest to the Avalanche ahead of the 2022-23 season. The team signed him to a one-year, $2 million deal. He put up 16 goals and 23 assists in 69 games. He had one goal and four assists in the postseason with Colorado (seven games) and was a plus-four player in that time." -Tiedtke

Rodrigues signed a four-year, $12 million contract with the Panthers in free agency and went on to win his first Stanley Cup with the team last season.
