The Pittsburgh Penguins have completed an interesting roster move involving a former Colorado Avalanche forward.
The Penguins have recalled forward Matt Nieto from the @WBSPenguins (AHL) on an emergency basis.
As the season comes to a close, the Penguins have been effected by a bunch of injuries as they currently have four players on their injured list.
What Makes This Move Interesting?
With the current state of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the position they currently sit in, it's interesting that the organization is opting to recall a veteran like Nieto instead of one of their prospects to see what they can do in the remaining four regular season games.
When returning, he originally played a pair of AHL games on a conditioning stint with the Penguins, before earning a call up where he played 31 games for the Penguins. Ultimately his low production led to him being placed on waivers.
Since joining the Penguins affiliate, Nieto has been pretty solid with three goals and seven points in 15 games.
It's unclear if Nieto is going to see some ice time during the penguins game on Tuesday, but it's likely someone like
Joona Koppanen could come out of the lineup in place of Nieto.
