NHL releases major statement concerning Colorado Avalanche forward Miles Wood following brutal setback

Despite being sidelines for much of the season due to injury, Miles Wood reached a notable milestone by playing in his 500th NHL game on February 22nd against the Nashville Predators.
In just his second year with the Avalanche, the 29-year-old recorded 8 points (4 goals and 4 assists) over 37 regular-season games and registered 48 hits.

According to Coby Maeir of NHL.com, Wood remained one of the NHL's fastest skaters, ranking in the 99th percentile for top speed at 24.82 miles per hour and in the 97th percentile for speed bursts of 22 miles per hour or more, recording 23 such bursts.
One of Wood's four goals proved to be the game-winner in the Avalanche's 2-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on November 21st, during a successful 3-1-0 road trip.
As the regular season wound down, Wood recorded his highest point total of the year with a two-point performance against the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 3rd, helping the Avs secure a 7-3 win and clinch a playoff berth. He followed that up by scoring in the next game against the St. Louis Blues, extending his goal streak to two games.
Wood heads into the 2025-26 season with four years remaining on his current contract. He's approaching several career milestones, just 9 goals away from 100, 9 assists shy of 100, and 18 points short of reaching 200.
It'll be a very exciting year ahead for the Avalanche forward!
