A blockbuster trade involving Dallas Stars franchise forward Jason Robertson remains very much on the table this offseason for the Colorado Avalanche's divisional rival.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli reports that Calgary would be eager to land Robertson as part of a trade package centered around Rasmus Andersson.

Major trade still not out of the question for Avalanche divisional rivals.

Rob Couch from NHL Trade Rumors writes that a blockbuster swap between the Stars and Flames involving Robertson and Andersson still feels logical. Dallas is already squeezed against the cap, and with even more contracts coming due next summer and little money coming off the books, their financial crunch is only going to get worse.
"The Flames have just one year left of Andersson and he's very likely moving on, whether he's traded or not. The Flames have cap space and a need for star talent while the Stars desperately need right shot defensemen.

While there will have to be more added on the Flames' end to acquire Robertson, this is a trade that could very well happen as it addresses a lot for both teams looking to win the Stanley Cup (Dallas) and make the playoffs (Calgary)." -Couch

Losing Robertson would sting, but even the best teams can't keep every star. Dallas already had to ship out Mason Marchment to stay cap-compliant, and their forward group is still stacked: Mikko Rantanen, Wyatt Johnston, Roope Hintz, Matt Duchene, Tyler Seguin, plus they managed to retain Jamie Benn and Mavrik Bourque on bargain deals. And that's just up front.
"Even if Robertson is traded, the Stars have four players who can push for point-per-game seasons still. What is needed is a solid defensive group." -Couch

Dallas was smart to move on from both Matt Dumba and Cody Ceci, as neither was the right fit on the right side. Miro Heiskanen will likely have to keep playing his off-side, while Ilya Lyubushkin profiles better as a third-pairing presence.
Nils Lundkvist, who projects to be an everyday player next season if no further moves are made, remains a question mark, meaning the Stars will probably be eyeing an upgrade there eventually.
"This potential deal, while both sides would be losing something of importance in their lineup, will be gaining in another area where it is more needed." -Couch

Both teams could come out ahead, especially with new extensions for each player likely to follow any swap.
