Veteran forward Tye Felhaber has raised eyebrows with a standout season for the AHL's Colorado Eagles, showcasing consistent production and reigniting speculation about his NHL potential.

Felhaber, undrafted, just finished his first stint with the Avalanche organization tallying 44 points (22 goals, 22 assists) in 67 games with the Eagles this past season.

Report reveals big twist involving Avalanche forward.

Brennan Vogt from Hockey Mountain High writes that Felhaber is the kind of player who's easy to root for. After working his way up from the ECHL, he made a strong impression with the Colorado Eagles early last season, enough that the Avalanche rewarded him with a two-way contract.
"Felhaber only saw action in five games with the Avalanche, making his NHL debut on December 16, 2024 in Vancouver. In a rare moment, the cameras caught Felhaber on the bench before the game 'just taking it all in.' The Ontario native usually got less than 10 minutes of ice time with the Avalanche and registered only two total shots on goal." -Vogt
With the Eagles, Felhaber made a completely different kind of impact, he became the player opponent had to game plan around whenever he was on the ice. The speedy winger posted career highs across the board in the AHL, solidifying his breakout season. On top of his breakout campaign, Felhaber registered eight points in nine playoff appearances.
"Head coach Aaron Schneekloth had Felhaber play on every single line to start the year. But by the end of the season, Felhaber was playing consistent top-line minutes. He could play in every situation from even strength to power play to penalty kill. The 26-year-old was just happy to be there. There was never a dull moment in the hallways at Blue Arena with Felhaber, even after a rare loss. He would always show his toothless smile and bring a positive view to the game." -Vogt
Felhaber acknowledged that his shot wasn't always the most powerful, but as long as it reached its target, that was what counted. He is set to play the second year of his two-year, two-way contract, after which he will become an unrestricted free agent.
