Jason Polin wrapped up his second full season within the Avalanche organization battling injuries, limiting him to just two NHL appearances, both without registering a point.

Despite appearing in fewer games than the previous season, the former Hobey Baker finalist showed significant growth in his development.

Jason Polin might just be Colorado's next breakout sensation.

Brennan Vogt from Hockey Mountain High writes that injuries sidelined Polin for two separate month-long stretches, limiting his NHL opportunities with the Avalanche. He missed all of November due to lower-body and upper-body injuries, and a broken hand later kept him out throughout February.
"Polin nearly tripled his goal production with the Colorado Eagles, scoring 11 goals in just 39 games. He added eight assists to his scorecard throughout the season as well. The Colorado Eagles relied on Polin for more than just scoring goals. He became a big body that head coach Aaron Schneekloth would insert into the lineup to hit the other team. He was a calm presence for a young player, using his leadership skills as captain from college." -Vogt

The rugged forward did it all for the Eagles, contributing on both the power play and penalty kill, while slotting in everywhere from the first to fourth line. Polin brings a physical edge paired with a touch of skill, making him a versatile asset. If he can stay healthy next season, the Eagles may have a reliable top-six forward on their hands.
Here's what Polin said in an interview back in January...
«Last year, maybe [I was] a little hesitant with the puck. And this year, just like I said, just trying to play more confidence and trust in the coaches. And [I] just wanted to get back to my game I had in college. I just feel confident out there.» -Polin
The former Western Michigan standout is set to become a restricted free agent this summer, now with arbitration rights. Still, there's a strong chance Polin returns to the Avalanche or Eagles lineup this fall.
