Former Colorado Avalanche Top Prospect Is Making A Big Name For Himself After Being Traded By The Organization

During the NHL trade deadline the Colorado Avalanche made a big trade with the New York Islanders, trading away their top prospect in Cal Ritchie along with defenseman Oliver Kylington, a first-round pick in either 2026 or 2027 and a 2028 third-rounder, and got Brock Nelson and William Dufour in return.

Now, Cal Ritchie is making a big name for himself with the New York Islanders organization.

After being acquired by the New York Islanders, Ritchie ended up getting just two assists in his final five regular-season games with the Oshawa Generals, but he has found another level in the OHL playoffs.

The Oshawa Generals are facing off against the Brampton Steelheads in the first-round of the playoffs and Cal Ritchie has been going off.

The 20-year-old forward has picked up at least one point in each game, and has a total of 1 goal, 5 assists for 6 points in just 4 playoff games.

Ritchie may not be as hot right now as some of his teammates like Colby Barlow and Owen Griffin who each have four goals, and four assists, and Beckett Senneke who has four goals and three assists, but he is definitely making a name for himself.

Islanders General Manager Lou Lamoriello stated that the New York Islanders are not going to burn a year of his entry-level contract by bringing him into the NHL this season, but there is a chance that we could see him play full-time in the NHL next season, or at least get to see some NHL games.
