After signing a long-term deal with the Seattle Kraken in free agency, former Colorado Avalanche veteran defenseman Ryan Lindgren admits that this past NHL season was extremely challenging.

Lindgren was acquired by the Avalanche at last season's trade deadline.

Lindgren breaks silence on his time in Colorado.

Remy Mastey from Yahoo Sports writes that parting ways during the 2024-25 season might have been the right move for both the New York Rangers and Lindgren, but it didn't come without emotion.
Lindgren, who had spent his entire NHL career with the Rangers, was traded to the Avalanche in March just before the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline.
After the trade was finalized, Lindgren experienced a wave of sadness, quickly followed by excitement as he looked ahead to a fresh start and a new chapter in his career.
«I spent the last six years in one spot. And then, you wake up one morning, go to the rink, and find out you're moving to another team. And I think a lot of emotions go through that. Obviously, at first, you're very sad to leave that team, but you go to another team and realize ... just meeting everyone, and when you start playing games, it's a blast. It was a lot of fun to do that in Colorado and have a good team.» -Lindgren

The 27-year-old blueliner appeared in 18 games for the Avalanche, tallying two goals and one assist for a total of three points, while logging an average of 19 minutes of ice time per game.
"Lindgren departed Colorado to sign a four-year, $18 million contract with the Seattle Kraken at the start of the Free Agent Frenzy. He now rejoins former Rangers teammate Kaapo Kakko, whom he raved about during his introductory press conference with the Kraken." -Mastey

«He is one of my favorite guys I played with in my career, just such a good dude. Everyone loves him, such a hard-working, great player. As soon as he went to Seattle last year, he really took off and played well. I'm excited to be back playing with him and really excited to see him again.» -Lindgren

Lindgren has inked a four-year, $18 million contract, which will pay him $4.5 million annually throughout the duration of the deal with the Kraken.
