Ex-Colorado Avalanche goaltending prospect reportedly set to sign with an Original Six organization
According to recent reports a former Colorado Avalanche prospect is expected to sign with an Original Six organization after a strong season in Sweden.
The 26-year old goaltender spent three seasons in North America, before returning to the SHL for this season. However, reports indicate that he is expected to sign with an Original-Six organization, the Detroit Red Wings.
During Holm's time on an NHL deal, he primarily played at the AHL level, tallying a 2.80 GAA and a .897 SV% in 71 games over parts of three seasons. One season being with the Colorado Eagles, the Avalanche's AHL affiliate team.
However, the Avs decided to non-tender Holm last summer, resulting in him becoming an unrestricted free agent. Which lead him to signing a three-year contract with Rogle BK, a move that really paid off for him.
Holm put up an impressive 1.90 GAA and a .925 SV% in 35 games, earning him the Honken Trophy as the SHL's top goaltender for his efforts.
Which has caught the eye of the Detroit Red Wings organization. Now, Holm may not join the NHL team as the Red Wings already have their goalies, in
Petr Mrazek and Cam Talbot with one year left on both of their contracts.
Leaving him to likely be the backup goaltender for their top prospect
Sebastian Cossa, who signed for next season and will likely get the most playing time with the AHL Grand Rapids.
