Following the news of Gabriel Landeskog returning on a conditioning stint, the Colorado Avalanche have announced an unexpected roster transaction.

Last night, head coach Jared Bednar spoke on the chances of Gabriel Landeskog joining the Colorado Eagles on a conditioning stint, and it didn't sound too promising as he said "we'll see".

«He's doing better and getting close.»

Again said «we'll see.»
But today the Colorado Avalanche took everyone in the hockey community by surprise when it was announced that Landeskog is going down to the AHL on a conditioning stint.
With that he is officially one step closer to making his return to the NHL after not playing a game since the 2022 season.

Landeskog hasn't played a game since the 2022 Stanley Cup Final.
Not long after this announcement, the Colorado Avalanche announced a unexpected roster transaction.

Unexpected Roster Transaction

Leading up to their game last night, the Colorado Avalanche ended up recalling forward Chris Wagner from the Eagles in the AHL, and he would be slotted in for Ross Colton who is reportedly day-to-day with an injury.
After the news about Landeskog broke, the Avalanche revealed that they reassigned Chris Wagner to the Eagles, likely hinting that one of the injured players could be making a return to the lineup.
