After their 3-2 shootout win against the Vegas Golden Knights last night, a major announcement was made regarding Colorado Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon and he just tied an insane franchise record.

This season has seen some ups-and-downs for the Colorado Avalanche, which ended up leading to General Manager Chris MacFarland to make some big moves at the NHL trade deadline, and really bolster the teams depth.
One of the biggest, and most shocking trades that the Colorado Avalanche made this year, and fans did not see coming was them trading Mikko Rantanen in a three-team trade to acquire Jack Drury and Martin Necas.
MacFarland made multiple other trades to boost their depth during the deadline as well like acquiring Brock Nelson, Charlie Coyle, Jimmy Vesey, Ryan Lindgren, and Erik Johnson. Now heading into the playoffs, the Avalanche easily have one of the deepest teams, and are going to be a scary opponent.
Tuesday night against the Vegas Golden Knights, MacKinnon picked up another assist another assist, and made more history with the Colorado Avalanche.

With the assist that MacKinnon ended up picking up, he now is tied with franchise legend Joe Sakic for the most points in Avalanche history.
«MacKinnon extends home point streak to 26 games,» McNicholas wrote on X, formerly Twitter. «Ties Joe Sakic for most points in an @Avalanche sweater (since relocating). Both players with 1,015 points in exactly 870 games.»
Although this does not include the franchise's time as the Quebec Nordiques, it is still a super impressive stat.
Once again, MacKinnon is having a killer season, and is set to lead the Avalanche on another playoff run. Appearing in 78 games this season he currently sits with 115 points, tied with Kucherov for the league lead, but MacKinnon leads the league in assists with 83, and has also added 32 goals as well.
The Avalanche may also be getting their captain back for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as a recent announcement just confirmed Landeskog will be joining the team on a conditioning stint.
Gabriel Landeskog has been loaned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) on a conditioning assignment.
