Colorado Avalanche superstar Cale Makar sat down in a media scrum and broke his silence regarding his brother Taylor on switching to Maine and then joining the Colorado Eagles.
Taylor Makar had spent three seasons with the University of Massachusetts starting in 2021 and then decided to switch to the University of Maine this year where he had seen a dramatic increase in his numbers.
Cale happy for his brother and the opportunities he'll get
Makar explained to the media that he is happy for his brother and that the switch to Maine was the right move as his opportunities grew and is now with the Colorado
Avalanche organization as he had signed a contract recently.
The 24-year-old forward who stands at 6 foot 4 and 209 lbs was drafted by the avalanche in 2021, seventh round 220th overall.
Since switching from the University of Massachusetts, he had played 38 games with the University of Maine, scoring 18 goals with 12 assists for 30 points and had 47 penalty minutes and is a + 24.
He will now spend the remainder of his season with the Colorado eagles of the American Hockey League and could potentially challenge for a spot next year in Denver.
Avalanche and Makar looking for a strong finish to the season
The Avalanche have had a .500 stretch of the season over the last couple of weeks and the team hopes to have a strong finish to the season as they prepare themselves for the first round of the playoffs.
It's safe to say, that Makar should be a lock for the Norris trophy this year as his incredible season continues with 78 games played, scoring 30 goals with 61 assists for 91 points and is a + 31.
After tonight's game against the golden Knights, the avalanche have three games remaining where they will be at home on April 10th to face off against the Vancouver Canucks at 9:00 PM eastern.
