Colorado Avalanche reporter Evan Rawal has released a major update in a goaltenders future with the franchise and one big question looms upon his potential arrival to North America.

The Colorado Avalanche are currently in the midst of a playoff battle and are in search of securing their second Stanley Cup Championship win within the past five years.
Many aren't focusing on their future currently due to the present of amped up hockey, but the future of this dynasty is crucial and is in the hands of general manager Chris MacFarland, whose job is to secure players who have longevity to their name and also ice a competitive team.
One of MacFarland's future full-time players was acquired in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft throughout their nine selections made, saw goaltender Ilya Nabokov selected at 38th overall in the second round.
The Avalanche didn't own a first round pick in 2024, their earliest pick was 38th overall in which they selected Nabokov, son of Evgeni Nabokov who is deemed a top 10-goaltender of all-time.
Avalanche reporter Evan Rawal provided an update on the lone-wolf draft pick, and it appears that he may need a little more time before making the transition from the KHL to North America.
«Obviously bigger things at play tonight, but Avalanche related so passing it on.

Was told by a source that Ilya Nabokov needs a little more time before deciding whether or not he will come to NA next season. His KHL contract officially expires on May 31.»
This may draw some concern throughout the organization, due to the fact of his contract in the KHL expiring this summer, we can only hope the prospect does not decide to sign a long-term extension in the KHL.

Development before making the leap to the NHL is crucial, but a multi-year extension for Nabokov in the KHL could ultimately hurt his development, and the Avalanche in the long run.
