Colorado Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar both earn special honors from the NHL

With the Colorado Avalanche in the middle of a battle in the playoffs with the Dallas Stars, the NHL just honored both Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon following a recent announcement.
The Avalanche currently have their season on the line, and tonight will be playing in a do-or-die game.
If they lose tonight they will be going to the golf course, but if they win, they will force a game 7 and have another chance to move onto the second-round.
With that, the NHL honored both MacKinnon and Makar ahead of their big game 6 tonight against the Dallas Stars.

A recent announcement revealed that three finalists for the 2024-25 Ted Lindsay Award, and both Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar were nominated as finalists for the award.
The @NHLPA has announced that Nikita Kucherov, Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar are the three finalists for the 2024-25 Ted Lindsay Award.
This is the first time in Cale Makar's career that he has been nominated for this award.

The Ted Lindsay Award is unique as the only NHL award voted on by the players themselves, carrying on the tradition established in 1970-71 with the Lester B. Pearson Award. NHLPA members annually vote on the player they deem to be the most outstanding in the NHL regular season. The award was reintroduced in 2009-10 as the namesake of the late Ted Lindsay to honour his legacy as a Hockey Hall of Fame forward known for skill, tenacity and leadership, along with his role in establishing the original Players' Association.
