The Colorado Avalanche made a surprising announcement today when they revealed that they were ending Gabriel Landeskog's conditioning loan early.

It was announced that the captain is set to rejoin the Avalanche on Tuesday after spending most of last week with the Colorado Eagles on a conditioning loan.
Landeskog looks like he is ready to join the Colorado Avalanche for their upcoming playoff run, but has not played an NHL game since June of 2022.
Since suffering his knee injury, he underwent three surgeries, one including having a cartilage transplant in May of 2023.
Due to him being on long-term injury reserve while he was recovering, the Avalanche were able to assign him on a conditioning loan in the AHL, and he could stay on the loan for up to three games, or six days whichever one comes first, but the Avalanche decided to end his conditioning loan early.
On April 11th, Landeskog ended up playing in his first professional game in almost three years. During his second game he would pick up two points, a goal and an assist.

Landeskog Speaks On How His Knee Feels

"Physically, I feel great," Landeskog told reporters after his first game. "Obviously, it's the first game in a long time, so I got plenty of things to work on and get better at, but it was a lot of fun."

Landeskog stated he had a lot of things to improve on, but he had fun in his first few games back.
"Obviously, there were times where I didn't know if it was ever going to happen, so it felt great being in the battle again and on the bench, in the room, on the ice, all of the nuances of a hockey game," he said.
Multiple surprising teammates ended up showing up to show their support for Landeskog during his return to professional hockey including Cale Makar, and Nathan MacKinnon.
It's looking like Landeskog is going to join the Avalanche for their playoff run, whether it's the first game or third game is unclear, but all signs are pointing to him completing his comeback.
