Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar has finally revealed his true thoughts following Colorado's decision to part ways with Mikko Rantanen last season.

Rantanen was included in a series of trades last season that ultimately brought Martin Necas to the Avalanche.

Jared Bednar delivers a heated message to Mikko Rantanen ahead of Saturday's divisional showdown.

Although the front office has remained tight-lipped, insiders indicate that Rantanen's departure was not about his on-ice performance or locker-room issues, but entirely driven by looming financial considerations.
While Rantanen's departure still lingers in the minds of many Avalanche fans, Bednar remains focused squarely on the present.
Here's what Bednar had to say when asked how long it takes to move on from Rantanen.
"Took me about ten minutes. Not that I don't like Mikko but I'm not dwelling in the past." -Bednar
The Stars came out on top in the Rantanen trade, a deal that, in hindsight, never should've happened.
Once contract extension talks broke down, Avalanche GM Chris MacFarland opted to send Rantanen as far from the Western Conference as possible.
And ironically, the complete opposite ended up happening.
The Avalanche need to prioritize signing the superstar forward they currently have on their team in Necas.
However, with the Colorado Avalanche needing to secure a new deal for Cale Makar, and even with the salary cap expected to rise next year, it's likely Necas will be traded, either at the trade deadline or before the start of the next season.
As with any player approaching a major contract extension, managing performance can be challenging.
With the league's top defenseman likely taking priority, if there isn't enough cap space, the team's focus must be on retaining the most essential players while preserving depth throughout the lineup.
We'll have to wait and see how it all unfolds.
