Evan Rodrigues is reportedly on the trade block after spending two seasons with the Florida Panthers.
Although the former Avalanche winger had hoped to remain in Colorado after his one-year stint in 2023, the move to Florida ultimately turned out to be the best decision of his career.
Avalanche reportedly eyeing a shocking reunion with former fan favourite.
Aaron Deen from Colorado Hockey Now writes that with Florida facing a cap crunch and working to re-sign at least two of their stop three free agents, the Avalanche should look to bring Rodrigues back as a depth forward.
Now 31, Rodrigues already had chemistry with Colorado's core, offered the flexibility to slot in anywhere in the lineup, and brings valuable veteran experience to a team hungry for another Stanley Cup push.
"The Avs have a mostly complete forward group already, but the third line could use some help. Assuming Charlie Coyle sticks around, it's looking more like one or both of his wingers from the postseason will be gone. The line ultimately wasn't all that effective." -Deen
Rodrigues would be a far better fit for the Avalanche. His versatility is a clear asset, and we've already seen him thrive alongside Nathan MacKinnon in the past.
"When he spent a year in Colorado, he had 39 points in 69 games and played a career-high 17:51 per game. In the playoffs, Rodrigues had five points in seven games, playing mostly with MacKinnon and the now departed Mikko Rantanen. But more importantly, he'd be an excellent third liner that can both provide energy and produce offensively." -Deen
Rodrigues put up 15 points in 21 games during Florida's most recent Stanley Cup run, following a solid performance the year prior with 15 points in 24 playoff games in 2024.
