The Utah Mammoth announced Monday that they've inked free agent forward Jack McBain to a five-year deal worth $21.25 million. The contract carries an AAV of $4.25 million and will keep him under contract through the 2029-30 season.

The Mammoth have been plenty busy this offseason, trading for another star forward in J.J. Peterka from the Buffalo Sabres a couple weeks back.

Avalanche rivals ink another blockbuster deal.

During the 2024-25 season, McBain recorded 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points, along with 78 penalty minutes across 82 regular-season games. He also delivered 291 hits, ranking sixth in the NHL, and logged eight fighting majors, tying him for seventh in the league.
Here's what Mammoth GM Bill Armstrong had to say following McBain's extension in a press release...
«(McBain) is a big, strong, physical player who competes hard on a nightly basis and brings a gritty toughness to our group. Jack is an important part of the championship-caliber team we are building, and we look forward to having him back on our roster for the foreseeable future.» -Armstrong

Over the course of four NHL season, the Toronto, Ontario native tallied 35 goals and 47 assists for a total of 82 points, along with 198 penalty minutes across 241 regular-season games.
Armstrong said the mutual commitment shown in this deal "tells you everything you need to know about the value and importance placed on winning together."
«Jack's versatility as a player, his care for his teammates, and his demonstrated willingness to do whatever it takes to win, are all critical elements to our future team success." -Armstrong

Selected in the third round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild, McBain went on to play four seasons of college hockey with Boston College. Over 117 NCAA games, he registered 37 goals and 49 assists for 86 points. His standout year came during his senior season in 2021-22, when he tallied 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points in just 24 games.
