Colorado Avalanche stars Gabriel Landeskog and Cale Makar fire back at fans following a jaw-dropping off-ice encounter at last week's Los Angeles Rams NFL game.

The Avalanche left Denver Broncos fans scratching their heads last week when the team showed up at SoFi Stadium in full Los Angeles Rams jerseys, showing support for another Stan Kroenke-owned franchise.

Gabriel Landeskog and Cale Makar set the record straight after a stunning off-ice moment.

Trent Finnegan from Denver Sports writes that Denver fans are accustomed to seeing players from the city's core four teams backing their local neighbours, not franchises thousands of miles away, even if they share the same ownership.
Don't worry Avs fans, Landeskog and Makar cleared up any rumours on Monday, setting the record straight about which team they truly support.
"I understand. Colorado fans are passionate. To me, I didn't watch NFL until I came here in 2011. [The] Broncos are my team, that'll never change, but when the big boss [Kroenke] invites you to come watch a Rams game, and the way he took care of us there, it is a special bond for us to be a part of, not just the Avs and the Nuggets and the Mammoth, but to be a part of the bigger Kroenke sports family...it's special.

Now having said that, if it were the Broncos playing against the Rams, I think it would've been a little bit different from the guys, cause some of the guys here in the locker room, a lot of us are Broncos fans For one night, I think you can cheer on a team and it doesn't change how you feel about whoever your primary team is." -Landeskog
When asked about his time at SoFi on Thursday, Makar shared the same perspective as his captain.
"At the end of the day, when you get offered to have an experience like that with the team that your owners own it's fun. But, obviously I come from Calgary, so other than being a CFL fan I'm a Broncos fan at heart." -Makar

Makar also made a comment that's sure to excite Broncos fans about their young quarterback, especially following his impressive fourth-quarter performance against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
"Fun experience, but I'm a ride-or-die Bo Nix guy. Fun to see them play yesterday. We're all fans in here, let's get that straight." Makar

For Avs fans who aren't Broncos supporters, Sunday's game marked the best win of the Sean Payton-Bo Nix era. Trailing for three quarters, Nix led three straight touchdown drives, scoring 18 unanswered points in the fourth. He finished with 242 passing yards, a touchdown, and 24 completions on 39 attempts.
Landeskog summed it up perfectly: Colorado fans are passionate. Most support the state's four major Denver teams, unlike Yankees or Lakers fans who mix and match loyalties. So when they see their hockey team wearing another state's colours, or their basketball coach cheering for the Buffalo Bills, they naturally have questions.
