The Colorado Avalanche secured veteran defenseman Josh Manson with two-year contract extension on Thursday.

With Manson entering the final year of his existing contract, it had sparked speculation about whether would remain in Denver.

Avalanche do right by extending Manson.

Nestor Quixtan from Mile Hockey Hockey writes that the two-year deal is worth a total of $7.9 million, featuring a $3.9 AAV, slightly below Manson's current $4.5 million AAV.
For now, those questions have been put to rest. By re-signing Manson, the Avalanche showed loyalty to one of their longest-serving players. As GM Chris MacFarland put it...
"Josh has been an important member of our blue line since joining the team during the 2022 stretch run." -MacFarland

MacFarland's remarks highlight the Avalanche organization's deep loyalty and appreciation for everything Manson has brought to the team.
"The former sixth-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks from 2011 was hampered by injuries this past season. But rather than sending Manson to the glue factory, the Avalanche are betting he's still got plenty of gas left in the tank." -Quixtan

But more than just a clear vote of confidence, MacFarland emphasized Manson's importance to the team by stating...
"He is a steady and tough defender who chips in on the offensive side at key times. He is also a veteran leader in our dressing room, and we are excited to have him under contract for another three seasons." -MacFarland

Manson is set to play out the final year of his current contract this upcoming season, with his new deal set to begin in the 2026-27 campaign.
"The Colorado Avalanche made a solid move in holding on to Josh Manson. The club lacks high-end blue liners who can come in and fill a top-four role on the team." -Quixtan

For now, the Avalanche will rely on Manson to remain a consistent physical force on the blue line. With any luck, injuries won't hold him back in the upcoming season.
