Avalanche fans are growing increasingly frustrated following the insider's latest take on the ongoing trade rumours surrounding Sidney Crosby, with speculation and uncertainty continuing to swirl around the superstar's future.
Insider's latest take sparks frustration among Avalanche fans amid Sidney Crosby trade buzz.
Jackson Weber from The Sporting News writes that despite the future Hall of Famer repeatedly expressing his love for the city, the organization, and his desire to remain a Penguin for life, speculation about his future continues to swirl throughout the hockey world.
The superstar center is growing weary of constant questions about his future, and NHL insider Frank Seravalli's latest update might help silence the speculation, for now.
Speaking on The FAN Pregame Monday night, Seravalli strongly dismissed any notion that Crosby is looking to leave Pittsburgh.
"The conversation has to come from one person and one person only, which is number 87 himself, who needs to walk in the office, close the door, sit down, and have that really difficult conversation, which is 'I'd like to move on. And so for everyone who wants to make these predictions of 'Oh, he's going to go to the Montreal Canadiens, he's going to go to the Colorado Avalanche,' whatever it is that you are predicting. I have not had one single hint, whisper, or innuendo from within that tight Sidney Crosby inner circle where he has even hinted at or mentioned this as something he's thinking about or considering.
I just don't see a trade materializing for Crosby midseason, let alone given the fact that it hasn't been a focal point and topic of conversation within his inner circle; I just don't see it really at all." -Seravalli
"If Sidney Crosby had yet to win a Stanley Cup, then leaving Pittsburgh to chase a championship would make a lot of sense. But this is a three-time Stanley Cup Champion we're talking about; he's won everything you could ever ask for.
Crosby is, of course, one of the most competitive athletes we've ever seen, and he's admitted that the losing weighs on him, though even through the tough times, he's never wavered on the desire to finish his career as a Penguin." -Weber
The chatter should die down as the 2025-26 season begins, though if the Penguins find themselves near the bottom of the standings by midseason, the rumours and speculation are sure to resurface.
